Bayhealth Kent General has been awarded the Get With the Guidelines-Resuscitation Gold Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association (AHA) for the second year.

This award honors Bayhealth for achieving aggressive goals in improving patient outcomes from in-hospital cardiac arrest.

“Bayhealth is dedicated to helping our patients have the best possible outcomes. Implementing the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines–Resuscitation program will help us accomplish this by making it easier for our teams to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work on a daily basis,” said Ann Keane, RN, MSN, MA, NEA-BC, CCRN, Bayhealth director of patient care services. “Achieving the Gold award is evidence of our team’s dedication.”

The quick and efficient use of guideline procedures can improve the quality of care for people with cardiac arrest and save lives. We can increase the chances of patient survival by decreasing the time to effective resuscitation and improving post-resuscitation care.

The AHA’s “Get With The Guidelines–Resuscitation” program is one set of guidelines that Bayhealth uses to develop and implement protocols for reducing disability and death from cardiac and respiratory emergencies. This evidence-based quality improvement program can result in better patient outcomes, with more patients surviving cardiac arrest and eventually being discharged from the hospital.
