Smyrna, Delaware – For the first time, Bayhealth Medical Center is providing comprehensive digital mammography services at Bayhealth Smyrna-Clayton Medical Services.
The new Mammography Services Unit at Bayhealth Smyrna-Clayton Medical Services offers digital mammography, both screening and diagnostic, as well as breast ultrasound.
With digital mammography, digital images of the patient’s breast are captured and will be reviewed by a certified technologist and interpreted by an ACR accredited radiologist. With digital imaging, your radiologist may magnify a specific area or magnify the entire image. S/he may change the contrast or darkness of the mammogram to better visualize an area. S/he may move the images so that they may be compared to previous studies. After your radiologist has reviewed these digital images, a written report is generated and sent to your physician and the images are stored in a database in case they need to be reviewed in the future.
Bayhealth digital mammography is fast, accurate and convenient. Any Bayhealth physician, from any location, may view your digital images directly from the physician’s computer.
“Our new digital mammography services will help radiologists and other physicians better detect and diagnose disease. By offering these services in our new location, we hope to provide added convenience to patients in the Smyrna-Clayton community,” said Bayhealth Administrative Director of Diagnostic Imaging John Desiderio, FACHE, MBA.
