Bayhealth proudly announces that cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon Paul Fedalen, MD, is joining the Bayhealth Cardiovascular Surgical Associates team.
Dr. Fedalen is a familiar face to patients at Kent General Hospital, where he has served as an Attending Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular, and General Surgeon since 2004. He is currently a member of the Bayhealth Cancer Institute Board of Directors, and also serves as Co-Chair of the Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Team.
“Dr. Fedalen is an outstanding surgeon and a tireless worker,” said Dr. John Mannion, also of Cardiovascular Surgical Associates. “I am very pleased that he has rejoined our team.”
Dr. Fedalen currently performs robotic surgery at Bayhealth using the da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, a surgical option that affords patients better clinical outcomes and shorter recovery times. Using the da Vinci System, Dr. Fedalen addresses a wide range of complicated surgical issues, with a particular focus on lung cancer procedures. This novel approach typically allows patients to return to regular activity within a week of surgery.
After completing the majority of his medical training at Temple University, in Philadelphia, Dr. Fedalen traveled south to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital for his residency in cardiothoracic surgery. He was selected as Chief and Administrative Resident, Cardiothoracic Surgery, during his final year at Emory.
Prior to joining Bayhealth Cardiovascular Surgical Associates, Dr. Fedalen worked at the Eden Hill Medical Center in Dover.
