Bayhealth recognized the Northern and Southern Division Employees of the Year at the annual Employee Service Awards Banquet held at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover on Wednesday, May 8.
Arlene Watson of Dover was named Northern Division Employee of the Year and Barbara Bunting of Milford was named Southern Division Employee of the Year. Both employees receive an engraved plaque, eight hours of paid time off, a feature article and photograph in the Bayhealth employee newsletter, a $500 check and the coveted Employee of the Year parking space.
Arlene Watson is the Receptionist in Bayhealth’s Human Resources Department at Kent General, making her one of the very first people new or potential employees encounter at Bayhealth. According to the many people who signed the form nominating her for this award, Watson “never fails to provide outstanding customer service. She exhibits miraculous patience and always finds the answers people need. She is reliable, pleasant, helpful and truly an outstanding employee. She is the definition of a team player. She could be in the middle of a call, with a walk-in at the desk, and you could drop your folder in front of her and she would still bend over to pick it up – smiling the entire time.”
Since joining Bayhealth in the 1990s, she has worn a number of hats around Kent General. After beginning in the Child Care Center, she transitioned to the mailroom and then to Human Resources, where she has remained ever since, in a role she feels is her true calling.
Barbara Bunting is an Assistant Cook in the Milford Memorial cafeteria, where she consistently provides a high level of customer service. According to her co-workers who nominated her for the award, Bunting “is always smiling and pleasant to everyone. She shows a careful attention to detail, always exceeds customer expectations and is always reliable.”
Since her Bayhealth career began in July 2006, she has constantly researched new recipes for catering and the cafeteria. She is well-known throughout the hospital for her special desserts and other dishes, including her peanut butter fudge and chicken salad with cranberries. Bunting also received the Planetree Spirit of Caring Award for the Milford campus in 2010
