Bayhealth will be part of this year’s annual Community Education and Health Fair on June 20 at the Modern Maturity Center.
The educational fair is free and open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and although it is being held at a facility that serves seniors, this fair has something for all ages, according to Jamie Sherman, health fair coordinator. Ms. Sherman expects more than 300 visitors to attend the event that includes nearly 70 vendors.
“There will be health screenings and free giveaways. It is showing what is out there in the community, organizations and services,” she said.
Bayhealth’s contribution will offer education regarding Bayhealth’s Cardiovascular Services, the Stroke Center and a fall prevention display, according to Trisha Bentley, BSN, RN, CBCN a Bayhealth clinical educator.
“We use visual models to educate patients about home safety. At the Modern Maturity event, participants will pick items out of a house model that may put them at risks for falls at home. Eliminating safety hazards is the best way to reduce the risk of falls and other complications,” Bentley said.
For those who can’t attend the fair, Steps to Healthy Aging offers free blood pressure clinics each week in Milford, Dover and Smyrna, as well as free monthly health lectures. For more information on the STEPS program please visit us at www.bayhealth.org/steps or call 302-744-7135; 1-877-453-7107
