Two Bayhealth employees are the lucky recipients of the Ken Robertson Assistance Fund, established by Dover resident Ken Robertson to support nursing assistants as they pursue the RN degree.
Grateful for the excellent care he received from nursing assistants on the 3 West medical-surgical unit, Robertson started the fund as a way to help nursing assistants advance their careers. The fund provides $500 awards each year to Bayhealth nursing assistants who are currently enrolled in an RN program.
This year’s recipients, Andrea Northey, LPN, Advanced Emergency Department Tech, and Ashley Duke, CNA, plan to use the award towards tuition for their classes at Delaware Tech.
Northey joined Bayhealth in 2012 after working at the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, in Dover. She enjoys the dynamic atmosphere of the Bayhealth Kent General Emergency Department and feels privileged to learn from and work alongside the ED nursing staff.
Duke came to Bayhealth in 2006 as a health information assistant in the Radiology Department, and now serves as a nursing assistant and peer breastfeeding counselor in Women’s Services at Bayhealth Milford Memorial. She loves working with babies and their mothers.
The Ken Robertson Assistance Fund is awarded each year through an evaluation process including a detailed application, letters of recommendation, and interview.
