Bayhealth Kent General welcomed the first baby of the new year at 12:25 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1.
Isabella Holly Scott was born to Kristin Scott after nearly four hours of labor, weighing in a 7 lbs. 4 oz. and measuring 21 inches. Baby Isabella’s grandmother, great-grandmother, brother, and cousin accompanied Kristin to the hospital.
According to Kristin, big brother Ronnie was hoping for a boy but after feeding and holding Isabella, is starting to warm up to her. "He'll be protective of her. Once he realized she wasn't going to be messing up his toys, he decided he liked her," she said.
Isabella’s due date was December 25, but rather than enter the world as a Christmas baby, she decided to be a New Year baby instead. After Kristin’s positive experience giving birth to Ronnie at Kent General, she knew she would return for the birth of her next child.
