Bayhealth Foundation Honors Members of Boone-Chipman Society

02.27.2014

The Bayhealth Foundation honored members of the Boone-Chipman Society at a luncheon and plaque unveiling on February 24 at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.

The luncheon included guest speakers Bayhealth President and Chief Executive Officer Terry Murphy, FACHE, who presented the group with news about recent and upcoming construction efforts at Bayhealth; Bayhealth Internal Audit Manager Holly Case, CPA, CIA, FACHE, who shared her family’s memories of Milford-area physician W.T. Chipman, MD, for whom the Society is partially named; and estate attorney Kevin Baird of Baird Mandalas Brockstedt, LLC, who presented information on the importance of estate planning and how it can benefit donors and non-profits like Bayhealth.

The luncheon concluded with the presentation of a special plaque engraved with the names of members of the Boone-Chipman Society in the main corridor of Kent General.

Members of the Boone-Chipman Society are honored annually for their charitable gifts to the Bayhealth Foundation. Their gifts help make it possible for the Foundation to support Bayhealth in providing world class health care for the people in Central and Southern Delaware. This luncheon serves to acknowledge the generosity of those members and encourage new members to join the society.

The Boone-Chipman Society was created to recognize and honor individuals who have remembered Bayhealth in their estate or deferred charitable gift plans. Anyone who includes Bayhealth in his or her will, creates a gift annuity or trust instrument, secures an insurance policy or creates any other specific deferred charitable gift instrument is entitled to membership in the Boone-Chipman Society.

The society is named after Alice Emerson Boone, for whom Kent General’s cardiac center was named in November 2004 in gratitude for her very generous donation, and W.T. Chipman, MD, who served on the medical staff of the original Milford Memorial Hospital in 1921 and who was instrumental in many building campaigns during his lifetime and who left a sizeable gift to the hospital in his estate.

The Bayhealth Foundation offers many opportunities for charitable giving. For more information, please call Bayhealth Foundation President Dr. Lindsay Rhodenbaugh or Sr. Major Gifts Officer Charles E. Desch at (302) 744-7015 or visit www.bayhealthfoundation.org.
