What are Cardiovascular Screenings?
This three-part screening is offered to detect any potential cardiovascular diseases. These tests are painless, non-invasive, and comprised of the following screenings:
Carotid Artery Disease/Stroke Screening
-
This test uses a Doppler to measure blood flow in the carotid arteries of the neck.
-
It will detect blocked circulation to the brain.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
-
This screening uses an ultrasound to measure the size of the large blood vessel (aorta) in your abdomen.
-
It will detect if you have an aneurysm, which is when the lining of the aorta is enlarged within the abdomen.
Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening
-
This test measures the pressure in your arms and legs by performing blood pressures with a small ultrasound device.
-
It indicates how well blood flows to the legs.
There is a $65.00 fee that includes all three screenings and pre-registration is required. For more information and to register, please contact the Bayhealth Education Department at 302-744-7135 or 1-877-453-7107.
