David J. Cloney, MD, FACS obtained his medical degree from Universita’ di Bologna, Italy in 1984. Following that he completed his general surgery residency at Western Reserve in June 1990.In 1988,
Dr. Cloney joined the Medical Corps of the United States Army Reserves. He served on active duty in the 5th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm (1900-1991) Recognition of his surgical success included three decorations and promotion to the rank of major.
In the 13 years Dr. Cloney has served the Kent/Sussex County Community, he has cultivated a large patient base and has accumulated expertise in general and thoracic surgery as well as peripheral vascular procedures. In addition, he excels in minimally invasive laparoscopic diagnosis and treatments. He also specializes in diagnosing and treatment of breast disorders.
During this period he initiated and became the first director of the surgical trauma program at Bayhealth Medical Center-Milford Memorial Hospital. Additionally, he has served as President of the Medical Staff at Bayhealth Medical Center-Milford Memorial Hospital and is currently the President of the Super Medical Executive Committee of Bayhealth Medical Center.
