Radiation Oncology

The Cancer Center at Dover is the first location in Delaware to offer the most versatile, precise and powerful tumor-destroying linear accelerator, the Trilogy.TM Trilogy uses robotics to accurately deliver stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS and SRT), image guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), and 3-D conformal therapy.

The Cancer Center at Dover was also the first location in Delaware to offer Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). IMRT is a sophisticated radiation technique for cancer treatment, delivering higher radiation doses to complex target areas. Bayhealth's physicians also use computer-generated 3-D planning to reduce dose to nearby normal tissues.

Radiation Oncology is provided by Delaware Radiation Associates at both cancer centers and includes:
John Lahaniatis, MD, Medical Director
John Fazekas, MD, FACR
Donald Tilton, DO, FACR

The Cancer Center at Dover, located at 793 S. Queen Street in Dover, offers the following services:

  • Trilogy linear accelerator for IMRT, SRS and SRT, IGRT and respiratory gating
  • Varian 2100 C dual energy linear accelerator with 120-leaf Millennium multi-leaf collimation (MLC) and IMRT, controlled by IMPAC electronic medical record system
  • A dedicated CT Simulator for treatment planning
  • Brachytherapy for prostate seeds implants and GYN and endobronchial implants
  • High and low dose I-131
  • Eclipse and CMS Focus treatment planning systems for IMRT, 3-D and 2-D conformal therapy
  • Networked information systems connected to the Diagnostic Imaging Department via PACS
  • A fully-credentialed staff including, radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, medical physicist and medical dosimetrist

The Cancer Center at Milford, located on the Milford Memorial Hospital campus at 21 West Clarke Avenue in Milford, offers:

  • Varian 2100 C dual energy with MLC and IMRT, controlled by the IMPAC/EMR system
  • A dedicated CT simulator for treatment planning
  • Brachytherapy for prostate seed implants and GYN and endobronchial implants
  • High and low dose I-131 is offered
  • CMS Focus Treatment Planning system for 3-D and 2-D conformal radiation therapy
  • Networked information systems connected to the Diagnostic Imaging Department via PACS
  • A fully-credentialed staff including, radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, medical physicist and medical dosimetrist
