Iftekhar A. Khan, MD
Dr. Khan is the Medical Director of Medical Oncology and Principal Investigator of the Clinical Trials Program at Bayhealth. He is board-certified in medical oncology and hematology and received his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Pakistan. Dr. Khan completed a fellowship in bone marrow transplantation/hematology-oncology at the University of Connecticut Health Center, a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Connecticut Health Center, and residencies in internal medicine at Wright State University Good Samaritan Hospital and VA Medical Center.
Kathrina L. Chua, MD
Dr. Chua is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. She received her medical degree from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. Dr. Chua completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she also served as an assistant instructor in medicine. Additionally, she completed internal medicine residencies and internships at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Dr. Chua has conducted extensive studies in breast cancer, immune function after stem cell transplantation and the effects of smoking on cardiopulmonary responses to exercise.
Rishi Sawhney, MD
Dr. Sawhney is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. He completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was also selected to be a member of the prestigious American Society of Hematology Trainee Council. Additionally, Dr. Sawhney completed both a residency and an internship in internal medicine at Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore, Md., where he served as Chief Resident and was named Most Outstanding Resident Physician of the Year and Intern of the Year. He received his medical degree with high honors from the Ross University School of Medicine. Dr. Sawhney has completed research in renal cell carcinoma, bladder cancer, prostate cancer and head and neck cancer.
Radiation Oncologists
John E. Lahaniatis, MD
Dr. Lahaniatis is the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology. He is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology/Radiation Oncology. He earned his master’s and medical degree at the Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he completed his internship in medicine and his residency in radiation oncology. Dr. Lahaniatis also served as Chief Resident – Radiation Oncology at Hahnemann, Graduate and MCP Hospitals. He continues to write and publish scientific literature on topics of cancer management and care as well, and serve as a peer reviewer for scientific journals. He chairs the Multidisciplinary Tumor Board at Kent General Hospital and the Cancer Committee at Kent General Hospital. He has been very active in talking to civic organizations and providing screening services to the community.
John T. Fazekas, MD, FACR
Dr. Fazekas is board-certified in radiation oncology. He earned his medical degree from Ohio State University. Dr. Fazekas completed an internship at King County Hospital and radiation oncology residencies at the University of California and Mt. Zion Institute. He was a clinical professor of radiology at New York University, Rutland Regional Medical Center, Catholic Medical Center and North Shore University Hospitals. Dr. Fazekas is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology. He is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the Medical Advisory Board and the American Cancer Society Prostate Cancer Advisory Group.
Donald C. Tilton, DO
Dr. Tilton is board-certified in radiology and radiation oncology. He received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at Delaware Valley Hospital, a radiology residency at Christiana Care Health System and a radiation therapy residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
