The purpose of this program is to promote increased understanding of the critical role of nurses in a changing global healthcare environment. One aspect of this changing role is a nursing management model known as "shared governance" or "shared decision making." This model promotes better patient outcomes, and profession. Shared governance plays a critical role in nurse satisfaction, promotes better patient outcomes and improves nurse recruitment and retention.

 Objectives:

  1. Discuss the implications of technological develoment on prefessional practice, human lifestyles and societal development.
  2. Identify the significance of nursing's role in a changing healthcare environment.
  3. Analyze the impact of shared decision making on the success of patient care practices.
  4. Identify the local and national legislative issues that will effect the future of nursing practice.
  5. Discuss several nursing skills considered critical in sucessful shared decision making models.
