Who Can Refer You to Bayhealth Home Care?
Just about anyone - your doctor, family and friends - even you can refer yourself to Home Care. Insurance companies, nursing homes, hospitals and rehab units may also refer you.

Who Can Have Home Care?
With a doctor's order, Home Care can provide health care to many patients, such as:

  • Pregnant women
  • First-time mothers
  • Infants and children
  • Teens
  • Adults and the elderly

What Will Insurance Cover?
Your insurance may provide complete or partial payment. The Home Care team will explain your coverage and will bill your insurance directly. We accept:

  • Medicare (homebound only)
  • Medicaid
  • Private insurance
  • Private pay

Accreditation
The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) accredits both Bayhealth Medical Center and Bayhealth Home Care. Bayhealth Home Care is Medicare-certified and licensed in the state of Delaware.

The Bayhealth Home Care Explanation of Services

Nursing Services. Registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) work with your doctor to provide home care services. Their assessment, skilled treatment and support provide the high quality care you need to recover at home. A registered nurse is available for admissions, urgent situations or questions 24 hours a day.

Home Health Aides. Bayhealth's Home Health Aides are Certified Nursing Assistants who assist with activities such as bathing, dressing and meal preparation. Attention to personal needs is a vital component of our service.

Physical Therapy. Our physical therapy staff will come to your home to provide therapy such as therapeutic exercise, gait training and instruction in using a walker or cane.

Occupational Therapy. Occupational Therapists help patients regain day-to-day skills such as eating, dressing, housekeeping and personal hygiene.

Speech Therapy. This therapy can help patients improve speaking or swallowing problems.

Medical Social Services. Our Medical Social Services staff helps patients and family members understand and cope with problems caused by illness or injury.

Equipment and Supplies. Our nurses and therapists can provide names of medical equipment companies who supply all necessary medical equipment.
