At Bayhealth, we believe a community informed about health issues makes sound wellness
decisions. That's where our Education Department comes in - to help our patients
acquire the knowledge they need to best manage their health.
Staffed
by experienced registered nurses specialized and certified in areas such as diabetes,
wound ostomy, continence, nutrition and childbirth education, Bayhealth's Education
Department offers instruction, one-on-one consultations, support groups, classes,
health screenings, health fairs, preoperative programs and more. Child Life Therapists
are available to work with children before and during hospital stays. Call for information
on cancer screenings, health education programs and support groups like these:
- Parenting classes for expecting parents and parents of young children
- Labor and childbirth classes
- Community and school programs on communications, teen concerns and children's health
issues
- Adult and Infant/Child CPR classes
- Diabetes classes and individual instruction in diabetes self-management
- Ostomy, incontinence, wound and skincare information
- First Aid classes
- Pre- and post-operative instruction about stoma surgery and after-surgery care
- Skincare education on the prevention and treatment of pressure sores
- Breast and testicular self-exam classes
- Stress management
- Smoking cessation
- Cholesterol classes for those concerned about their cholesterol and fat intake
- Individual classes are offered for people caring for a family member or friend
- Support Groups - to assist in coping with: Alzheimer's, Amputee, Behavioral Health, Better Breathing, Breastfeeding,
Bereavement, Blindness/Visually Impaired, Brain Injury, Cancer, Cardiac diseases, Celiac, Compassionate Friends,
Diabetes, Dialysis, Epilepsy, Hepatits
C, Huntington's Disease, Lupus, Motherhood, Ostomy, Parkinsons, Stroke, Tobacco, and Addiction support - AA, GA, OA, NA, Alanon and
co-dependency.
