Kent General provides an 15-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for premature and very sick babies. The Level II nursery is staffed by a specially trained neonatalogy team, including board-certified neonatalogists. Milford Memorial and other hospitals often transport babies to this facility for special care.

Kent General also offers a Ronald McDonald Room for families with infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Ronald Room, sponsored by the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, has a kitchenette, sitting area and play area. The sitting area also converts to provide sleep accommodations on a short-term basis while the infant is critical or when the family is transitioning from the hospital to the home. Volunteers are available daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to supervise younger siblings older than one year old while parents visit the child in the NICU.
