Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Services
Cardiovascular Procedures
-
Diagnostic coronary angiography—dye injected into the coronary arteries and/or other heart structures to diagnose coronary artery, valve and other related diseases.
-
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)—opening blockages in the coronary arteries utilizing balloon angioplasty and/or stents.
-
Coronary Atherectomy—a spinning blade or laser attached to the catheter that removes fat and calcium buildup within the artery
Peripheral Vascular Procedures
-
Peripheral angiography—a catheter that is guided into the legs, kidneys or brain and dye injected to diagnose peripheral vascular disease.
-
Peripheral intervention—much like in the heart, balloons, wires and stents used to open blockages in the peripheral circulation.
-
Carotid artery stenting—used to open major arteries in the neck supplying blood flow to the brain
Electrophysiology Procedures
-
Diagnostic Electrophysiology Study—to assess the heart’s electrical function, diagnose arrhythmias and course of treatment.
-
Radiofrequency catheter ablation—in combination with 3D electro anatomic heart mapping, ablates (eliminates) cardiac tissue that causes arrhythmia
-
Pacemaker insertion—a device implanted into the chest wall that regulates heart rhythm
-
Automated Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD)—an implanted device that continually monitors the heart’s electrical activity to provide defibrillation if a lethal arrhythmia occurs
-
Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy—an implanted device that resynchronizes the heartbeat by controlling the cardiac rhythm from both sides of the heart. May include pacemaker and defibrillator therapy.
