I Love My Job!
Nina Carter, BSN, RN
For Nina Carter, BSN, RN, outstanding clinical skills and compassion are only part of the fundamental principles of patient care. What’s equally as important is helping to create a holistic, healing and peaceful environment which mirrors Bayhealth’s quest to achieve the Planetree Model of Care.
Thanks to Carter’s efforts, Emergency Department patients will no longer have to endure sterile white walls and the squeaky linoleum floors in their patient rooms. Carter has spearheaded the Planetree effort for the new Bayhealth Kent General Emergency Room which provides a more pleasant and soothing environment, including hanging artwork produced by local schoolchildren.
Carter organized the Bayhealth Emergency Department Art Contest, in which local kids in grades three through twelve submitted their own original drawings, paintings and artwork giving the children a chance to showcase their talent while also providing a more peaceful environment for Emergency Department patients.
The Art Contest’s submission deadline is Thursday, December 8, 2011, and all entries must be delivered to Nina Carter at Kent General Hospital at 640 South State Street, Dover. For questions, please call (302) 233- 8391.
In addition to spearheading important long-term projects such as the Art Contest, Nina Carter has also earned a reputation as an Emergency Department nurse who consistently demonstrates clinical excellence, compassion, and outstanding patient service. Earlier this year, Carter earned the Bayhealth DAISY Award which recognizes nurses for their use of evidence-based practice, mentoring, and demonstration of the core values of nursing.
Carter has also demonstrated outstanding leadership skills during her six years at Kent General Hospital. In addition to serving as Emergency Department Clinical Coordinator, Carter serves on the Emergency Department Leadership Committee. Carter also serves as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) nurse in the Emergency Department. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Delaware State University in 2003.
