Program Overview
The Bayhealth Scholarship has been revised to benefit both our employees and continue to provide support for our community members.
How it works - consistent process

Money awarded during academic year (August-May)

Eligible candidates must follow application guidelines

The need is based on vacant positions and future needs of organization as determined by Executive Leadership
Eligibility
Community (External Candidates)
-
Highly competitive
-
Awarded to College/University Juniors and Seniors > 3.0 - 4.0 GPA
-
Documented acceptance into bachelor’s or higher program for healthcare majors
Supporting our Employees (Internal Candidates)
Eligibility (must meet ALL of the following to qualify):
-
Have completed one year of continuous service as a benefits-eligible Bayhealth employee at point of submission with a status of .6 FTE or higher
-
Be in good standing, with a satisfactory performance record
-
Be currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s program or higher
-
Exhaust all tuition reimbursement
-
Relief and Per Diem are not eligible
-
Agree to a three-year work commitment at Bayhealth in a full-time status (Strategic needs weighed)
-
No corrective action per policy

Supporting Our Employees (Internal)

Scholarship for bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral programs

Must meet the criteria for selection

Tuition reimbursement must be exhausted before the Scholarship kicks in

Eligible employees: The Scholarship can contribute up to $3,000.00 in money for degree completion. (maximum $8,000.00 in one year)

Work Requirement
-
Upon graduation, a 3-year work commitment clock begins ( full-time status /consecutive 3-year period)

An eligible Bayhealth employee whose employment status drops below benefits- eligible status, or who terminates for any reason prior to completing the work repayment period, must repay a portion of the funds received. This portion is calculated by months/hours worked vs. remainder of commitment

No guarantee of employment
GPA Requirement
Successful completion of the course with an overall 3.0 or higher is required to retain the payment. Scholarship participants must report grades to the HR coordinator within two weeks of the end of classes. If a student fails to successfully complete the course and/or drops the class, no future funds will be awarded.
