Resident Biographies - Maggie Chan
My name is Maggie Chan and I am from Baltimore, Maryland. I graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore School of Pharmacy in 2013. Prior to pharmacy school, I completed my pharmacy prerequisites at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. While in school, I gained experience by working as a pharmacy intern/technician at Walgreens and Baltimore Washington Medical Center. After graduating from Maryland, I worked at Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland before becoming a PGY-1 Resident at Bayhealth Medical Center.
During my time in pharmacy school, I served as the class secretary and was involved in school organizations including APhA, Kappa Psi, and yearbook. I also enjoy being involved in community service. In the past, I have participated in flu clinics, including Vote and Vax, where I helped vaccinate patients and promote immunization. In addition, in 2011 I participated in a medical mission to Honduras with Global Medical Brigades.
Clinical rotations in the past definitely encouraged my decision to pursue a clinical pharmacy track. My interests include internal medicine, infectious disease, and ambulatory care. My ultimate goal is to practice as a clinical pharmacist in an acute care setting and hopefully specialize in a field of my interest. Outside of pharmacy, I like to spend quality time with my family and friends. I also enjoy music, arts, traveling, and a good book or movie.
