New babies don’t come with “instruction manuals.” So, what do you do if you’re a first-time parent and you need advice on how to best care for your child?
Bayhealth Medical Center is now offering a two-part Infant Care Series. The program provides information on basic infant care, and gives parents the confidence in their ability to take care of their infant safely when they leave the hospital.
The two-part session will focus on basic information such as how to properly burp, diaper, feed and care for newborns’ skin. Parents will also receive information on newborn characteristics, when to contact the physician and developmental milestones, as well as details about car seat safety, SIDS, shaken baby syndrome, crying and colic, sleep schedules, and bathing your baby. Guest speakers take part in each class, and include physicians and car seat safety experts.
This class costs $10 and is held at Kent General Hospital. Registration is required. Please call for dates and locations.
To register and learn about the class location, please call Bayhealth’s Education Department at (302) 744-7135 or toll-free at 1-877-453-7107.
