This American Heart Association course is designed for non-healthcare providers in the community and reviews the steps of CPR for adults, children and infants. In addition, participants will learn the use of an AED (automatic external defibrillator).
Students are instructed in the theory and operation of the automatic external defibrillator device and adult CPR and choking. This course is taught in the following categories: Adult AED, CPR and Choking; Pediatric AED, CPR and Choking; or Adult and Pediatric AED, CPR and Choking. It is intended for those individuals who respond to pre-hospital situations and must manage the patient until Basic Life Support and/or paramedics arrive. A course completion card is issued after successful completion of this course, with a recertification period every two years.
Participants must be at least 14 years old. Textbook for the class can be purchased at the hospital Retail Shop - it is recommended to purchase the book 7 days prior to class for review. REQUIREMENT: TEXTBOOK MUST BE BROUGHT TO CLASS. PARTICIPANTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN CLASS WITHOUT A TEXTBOOK.
