The birth of a baby is a joyous occassion, but it also means many changes within a family. Adjusting to a new brother or sister can be especially difficult for the older sibling. Bayhealth's "Hello Baby" program is designed to help these children accept their new role.
Open to youngsters between the ages of 3 - 6 years old, the program will explore the child’s feelings and fears about having a brother or sister in the family. In addition, the children will learn basic infant skills so they can participate in the care of the new baby.
This program includes:
Discussion about the new baby
A tour of the Maternity Department
Practice diapering and holding the child's own stuffed animal or doll
Classes are held one evening a month (except December) at Kent General from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and taught by a Child Life Therapist. At least one parent must accompany child/children. Each child should bring a doll or stuffed animal.
There is a $5.00 fee per child. Pre-registration is required. Classes fill up quickly!
