PEMIROLAST (pe MEER oh last) eye drops are used in the eye to prevent itching caused by allergies.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
an unusual or allergic reaction to pemirolast, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
pregnant or trying to get pregnant
This medicine is only for use in the eye. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash your hands before and after use. Shake well before using. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using this medicine. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down with your index finger to form a pouch. Try not to touch the tip of the dropper to your eye, eyelid, fingertips, or other surface. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pouch. Close the eye for a few moments to spread the drops. Use your doses at regular intervals. Do not use your medicine more often than directed.
Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.
Interactions are not expected. Do not use other eye products with this product without asking your doctor or health care professional.
This list may not describe all possible interactions. Give your health care provider a list of all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you use. Also tell them if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some items may interact with your medicine.
Tell your doctor or healthcare professional if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse. You may notice decreased itching within a few days of using this medicine, but longer treatment (up to four weeks) is usually necessary.
Do not wear contact lenses if your eyes are red. Remove contact lenses before using this medicine. Wait at least 10 minutes after using the eye drops before putting in your contact lenses, because this product contains a preservative that may be absorbed by the lens. Do not use this medicine to treat irritation that is caused by your contact lenses.
To prevent eye infections, do not share any eye products, towels, washcloths or other personal care items with anyone else.
Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:
allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
abnormal sensation in the eye
burning or stinging of the eye when drops are first put in
runny or stuffy nose

Keep out of the reach of children.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 25 degrees C (59 and 77 degrees F). Do not freeze. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
