A new plaque outside trauma room A1 in the emergency department at Bayhealth Kent General acknowledges a generous gift from John and Linda Paradee.

Friends and community members gathered for a reception—one of several held recently at Bayhealth Kent General—to celebrate the Paradees’ gift. Patient care personnel described how this gift will support the important services that the Bayhealth trauma program provides to Kent and Sussex Counties.

When a trauma alert is called, it sets into motion a complex series of activities and professionals who work together with a shared goal- to save a life.

How quickly a trauma victim receives care can make a significant difference in patient outcomes. Personnel and equipment must be ready to take action to achieve a positive outcome for the patient.

“Thanks to the Paradees, we are ready and prepared to care for the most critical patients who come through our doors,” said Bonnie Perratto, MSN, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, senior vice president and chief nursing executive. “We are fortunate to have a well-equipped, modern, fully-staffed trauma bay, with wonderfully talented surgeons, specialists, and staff.”

John and Linda Paradee’s gift will ensure that Bayhealth can continue to provide timely, efficient, and competent care to our trauma patients.

“Linda and I believe that, in order to improve the quality of life in our community, it is vital that we all do our part by taking an active role.  We are strong supporters of Bayhealth’s mission to improve the quality of healthcare in our community, and we hope that our small example will encourage others to step forward and do the same,” said John Paradee.

Bayhealth is grateful for the support that the Paradees and many other community members have contributed towards our mission and growth.
