Milford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Raises More Than $31,000 for New Health Campus
Bayhealth Milford Memorial Auxiliary’s Evening with Elvis and 2nd Annual Golf Outing raises more than $31,000 in support of new health campus
The third week of May was a busy one for the Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Within a week, the group hosted two major fundraising events to support the new health campus project in Milford, Del.
On Thursday, May 21, the Milford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary partnered with the Bayhealth Foundation on the 2nd annual Spring Golf Outing at the Rookery North Golf Course in Milford. Despite rainy conditions, 115 golfers attended the event, raising more than $23,000 in support of the health campus project. Local business and community leaders and members of the Bayhealth team teed off together and enjoyed good-natured competition.
Toni Bergfelder, president of the Milford Auxiliary, said, “We doubled the amount of golfers that we had last year, and more Auxiliary members came to work at the event this year.”
The following evening on May 22 the Milford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary hosted its first Evening with Elvis event, also at Rookery North in Milford, Del. More than 125 people participated in the event, which featured food, fundraising, raffles, and entertainment by famed Elvis Presley impersonator Bob Lougheed. The event raised more than $8,000 in support of the new health campus.
“It was an enjoyable evening,” said Bergfelder, “All of the auxiliary members participated in creating the backdrop behind Elvis.” After hors d’oeuvres and dinner, Lougheed took the stage, entertaining patrons with the signature music and moves of the King of Rock and Roll. “He’s really good,” said Bergfelder.
The Bayhealth Foundation and Milford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary have a longstanding partnership and history of successful fundraising initiatives. These two events were in specific support of the Auxiliary’s $750,000 five year pledge to support Bayhealth’s continued development in Southern Delaware.
