Bayhealth Orthopaedics, Dover is pleased to announce the addition of orthopaedic surgeon John R. Burger, DO. He joins fellow physicians Melissa Mackel, DO; Trinity Pilkington, MD; and Darshdeep Singh, DO, in the practice, which is now accepting new patients.

The practice is part of the Bayhealth Medical Group, a partnership of highly trained physicians, their clinical staff, and an administrative support team that operates practices throughout central and southern Delaware. While Dr. Burger will primarily see patients in Dover, the office locations for Bayhealth Orthopaedics  also include Milford, Smyrna and Lewes.

“Dr. Burger is a welcome addition to our practice,” said Bayhealth Medical Group Administrator Ernest Lemoi. “His expertise in anterior hip replacement, complex reconstruction, and partial knee replacements for shorter recovery time will help us meet the growing needs of patients in our area.”

Originally from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, Dr. Burger comes to Bayhealth from the University of Missouri, where he was on an orthopaedic surgery adult reconstruction fellowship. He earned his medical degree, as well as post-baccalaureate certification and a master’s in biomedical sciences, from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an internship and his orthopaedic surgery residency at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Dr. Burger is excited to return to Delaware and Bayhealth, after having done an OB-GYN rotation at Bayhealth Milford Memorial when he was a third-year medical student. He shares that he loved the community atmosphere and the people stood out to him. Married with five children, Dr. Burger looks forward to raising his family in the local area.
