WSFS CARES Foundation Donates $50,000 to Support Bayhealth’s Graduate Medical Education Programs

The Bayhealth Foundation recently received a $50,000 donation from the WSFS CARES Foundation to support the growth of Bayhealth’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs.

“The WSFS CARES Foundation is proud to support the Bayhealth Foundation in its efforts to recruit and prepare exceptional medical graduates through the Graduate Medical Education Residency Program,” said WSFS Bank Senior Vice President, Director of Community Strategy Vernita Dorsey.

The gift will allow Bayhealth to continue expanding the GME programs, bringing more resident physicians to care for patients in central and southern Delaware. Bayhealth currently offers GME programs in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and General Surgery, and is actively recruiting its first cohort of Emergency Medicine program residents to begin July 2023.

“One of the key tenets of the WSFS CARES Foundation is strengthening those in need, which we’re able to accomplish through partnerships with organizations like the Bayhealth Foundation,” said Dorsey. “Bayhealth is preparing the next generation of physicians to support health and quality of life in Delaware and the growing population in Kent and Sussex counties.”

"The Bayhealth Foundation and our GME programs appreciate the generosity of the WSFS CARES Foundation," said Bayhealth Foundation President Lindsay Rhodenbaugh. "Thanks to their donation, we're able to support enhancements to our GME programs that mean our residents are getting the best education possible to care for generations of Delawareans for decades to come."
