Clinical Trials

What are clinical trials and how can they help you?

In a clinical trial, participants receive specific treatments—drugs, devices or procedures—that are being considered based on research. Clinical trials may compare a new medical approach to a standard one that is already available. Some clinical trials compare treatments that are already available to each other. And sometimes a new drug is added to a proven treatment protocol. When a new treatment is studied in this manner, it’s not known whether it will be helpful.

During the trial participants are monitored closely. Cancer clinical trials are available right here at Bayhealth through our affiliation with the Penn Cancer Network.

The benefit of clinical trials is that you may be involved in studies that are testing the latest, most progressive treatments. In this way, you may be among the earliest to learn the advantages of such a treatment.
