Two Bayhealth team members, Benjamin Collins and Alana King, have become members of Leadership Delaware, Inc. (LDI). Leadership Delaware, Inc. annually selects Delaware’s best and brightest leaders to join its program.

Within this year-long program, members will have the opportunity to meet and hear from over 150 successful speakers. This program encourages members to succeed and excel to higher levels of accomplishments within the following aspects: their career field and profession, the nonprofit sector, government, and politics.

“I believe connections made and developed through Leadership Delaware will allow me to pour that back into my humanitarian efforts,” said King. Through her involvement with LDI, King is hoping to develop diverse, authentic relationships from a variety of sectors and industries.

King also hopes to strengthen her professional network within the business community. She plans to use the skills she gains from LDI in daily encounters and to maximize her leadership potential as to become a better leader at Bayhealth.

King participates in organizations and leads platforms that serve others in need. “I believe the knowledge gained from LDI will enhance life outside of my professional endeavors by increasing my connections and resources to serve humanity,” King continued.

Since having put down roots in Delaware, Collins has been eager to expand his network outside of healthcare professionals. In 2022, Collins had discovered Leadership Delaware Inc. He had originally applied to be a part of the class of 2023 but was later selected to be a part of the class of 2024. “It just shows to keep trying to achieve what you want and I’m very lucky they chose me as a fellow for 2024,” stated Collins.

Collins is currently involved with the American Heart Association and annual Heart Walk fundraising. Through his participation with LDI, he is hoping to become more involved with non-profit organizations and volunteer work within the community. Becoming a better leader is something that Collins is also looking to achieve through his involvement with LDI.

“Listening is an important part to leadership and I’ll be doing a lot of that this year. I’ll be listening and learning from those who’ve done it before, who’ve made mistakes and I hope to learn from those so I can be the best leader for my teams and for Bayhealth,” Collins concluded.
