At Bayhealth, nursing is grounded in research and evidenced-based practice. As a Magnet® recognized facility, Bayhealth nurses are driven to achieve nursing excellence and are passionate about the work they do and the care they provide patients. We have been recognized for our award-winning care, and have the structures and processes in place to achieve the highest outcomes for our patients.

Bayhealth’s nursing team follows a patient- and family-centered model of care. Nurses embrace Planetree’s philosophy of treating the whole patient – mind, body and spirit. Our nurses demonstrated their commitment through their relationship with patients, families, communities, interdisciplinary teams, and the application of new knowledge and evidence-based practices. Nurses are encouraged and supported by leadership in their quest to gain new knowledge and be innovative through their involvement with professional organizations and conferences.

Along with being a Magnet-recognized facility, nursing staff has helped Bayhealth earn numerous awards, including:

  • Baby-Friendly® designation – Through this, Bayhealth provide breastfeeding education and lactation support groups for a seamless transition from the hospital.
  • Stroke Care designation  – Bayhealth is certified as an AHA/ASA Primary Stroke Center.
  • Get With the Guidelines®-Resuscitation Silver Achievement Award – This award honors Bayhealth for achieving aggressive goals in improving patient outcomes from in-hospital cardiac arrest.

What distinguishes Bayhealth nurses from other organizations is the high degree of autonomy and accountability they exhibit daily. Our nurses serve as advocates for workplace initiatives. Nurses at all levels have the opportunities to participate in shared governance councils, committees, and task forces that make decisions about nursing practice and patient care. The work and research of our nurses impact not only current patients, but the community for years to come.

As a Magnet® recognized facility, Bayhealth nurses are passionate about the work they do and the care they provide to patients.
