Bayhealth announces that the American College of Physicians (ACP) has bestowed its “Mastership” designation on Lawrence D. Ward, MD, MPH, FACP, an internal medicine physician and vice president of physician services and clinical integration for the Bayhealth Medical Group.

According to the ACP, Masters are selected for “integrity, positions of honor, eminence in practice or medical research, or other attainments in science or the art of medicine, and are highly accomplished persons demonstrating eminence in practice, leadership or medical research.” Dr. Ward was inducted at the ACP annual meeting recently held in New Orleans.

Dr. Ward is the only Bayhealth physician and one of only 10 physicians from Delaware to be awarded this designation since it began in 1923. “I am honored to receive this national recognition by the American College of Physicians,” said Dr. Ward. “This recognition is something that, as a younger physician, you can only one day hope to be worthy of earning. It celebrates the hard work and dedication of people in medicine. I am invigorated by this honor and will continue my work in improving the health and well-being of Bayhealth patients and the surrounding community.”

Dr. Ward is the clinical leader of Bayhealth’s Medical Group and Population Health teams, focusing on improving care quality and helping whole communities stay healthier by preventing illness and making sure people get the care and support they need. He holds a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and an MPH from George Washington University. With over 20 years of clinical and teaching experience in Philadelphia, he has received multiple Top Doctor recognitions and teaching awards.
