Bayhealth Orthopedics, Sussex Campus Welcomes Foot and Ankle Surgeon

Bayhealth is pleased to welcome Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon Henry DeGroot III, MD, FAAOS. Specializing in foot and ankle surgery, Dr. DeGroot is the newest addition to the Bayhealth Orthopedics team. He is based in the Bayhealth Orthopedics, Sussex Campus practice in Milford and joins Orthopedic Surgeons John Burger, MD; Andrew Park, MD; Sports Medicine Physician George Umeh, MD; and Advanced Practice Clinicians Greg Sender, PA-C; Megan Olekszyk, PA-C; and Abigail Kozhuharov, AGACNP-BC. Dr. DeGroot is accepting new patients.

The Bayhealth Orthopedics practices are part of Bayhealth Medical Group, a partnership of highly trained physicians and advanced practice clinicians and teams that operates medical offices throughout Delaware.

Dr. DeGroot earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He was a resident and chief resident in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and went on to complete an orthopedic oncology fellowship with Harvard Medical School at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. He also completed an orthopedic oncology research fellowship at the Instituto Ortopedico Rizzoli di Bologna in Italy.

Dr. DeGroot has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and presented his research at local, regional and international forums. He is an experienced educator, having served as associate clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and instructor at Tufts University Medical School. His practice encompasses general orthopedics, sports medicine, fractures, orthopedic foot and ankle surgery, and orthopedic tumors and cancers. He has special training and experience in reconstructive and minimally invasive surgery of the ankle and foot and surgical and minimally invasive treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors.
