Taylor Irwin, RN, collegiate nurse care technician, Kent Clinical Observation Unit, cares for patients at the Bayhealth Kent Campus, and has earned a Sunshine Award for her high-quality, compassionate care.

The Sunshine Award recognizes vital team members who support our nursing staff and work closely together in order to provide compassionate care to patients. The Sunshine Award is an extension of the DAISY Award “as daisies need sunshine to grow.”

At Bayhealth, there are five core values: compassion, accountability, respect, integrity and teamwork. Irwin demonstrates all of Bayhealth’s core values and is described by her nominator, a patient on her unit.

“Taylor’s unwavering kindness and compassion were evident throughout my stay. Despite the challenges posed by my condition, she went out of her way to ensure I was not just physically comfortable but also emotionally supported,” said the patient. “Her frequent check-ins and encouraging words provided much-needed comfort and lifted my spirits when I felt most vulnerable. Taylor’s genuine concern for my well-being created an atmosphere of warmth and empathy that made all the difference in my care. Additionally, Taylor was a true team player. Her clear communication and proactive coordination with the nurses and doctors demonstrated her commitment to providing comprehensive and holistic care. Because of her efforts, I always felt confident that I was receiving the best possible care.”

Sunshine Award honorees are nominated by patients, visitors, nurses, physicians and employees. If you know an extraordinary nursing assistant or technician at Bayhealth who deserves a Sunshine Award, visit Bayhealth.org/Sunshine and nominate them today.
