Bayhealth Introduces Two-Way Texting to Enhance Convenient Communication Options

Thursday, November 20, 2025 |

Bayhealth is proud to introduce a new way for patients to manage their health care – easily and conveniently. On November 17, Bayhealth upgraded our Short Message System (SMS), or text messaging system, by introducing Hello World, a secure two-way texting experience powered by Epic, our electronic health record system, and MyChart. This allows you to receive important text messages through your mobile device and in some cases, to send text responses to stay updated or take actions related to your health care.

What Types of Texts Will I Receive?

Once you’ve opted in to the new texting system, you can receive text messages related to your care and reply with a text to:

  • Confirm or cancel an appointment
  • Check in before your visit
  • Pay a bill or sign up for a payment plan
  • Refill a prescription

How Do I Get Started?

Patients who already receive text messages from Bayhealth or our affiliated medical practices —D edicated to Women, First State Infectious Diseases, Kids and Teens Pediatrics of Dover, Eranga Cardiology, and CNMRI 2.0 — will receive a welcome message. All others will need to opt in – you can get started at any time through one of the following ways:

  1. To opt in, simply text YES to 96351.
  2. Log in to MyChart by visiting Bayhealth.org/MyChart and set up customized notifications in your Communication Preferences under Menu.
  3. At your next visit, you may be asked by a team member if you’d like to activate text messaging, or you can request this.

Can I Choose What Types of Texts I Receive?

Although text messaging is available without yet being signed up on MyChart, you can go through MyChart at Bayhealth.org/MyChart or on the MyChart app to adjust your communication preferences and the types of text messages you receive.

At any time, you can opt out by texting STOP to end text messages. You can also text HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply. Visit Bayhealth.org/Privacy-Statement/MyChart-Text-Message-Terms-and-Conditions for more information.

How Do I Stay Informed if I Manage Care for Someone Else?

If you are a caregiver and want to receive text messages related to the care of that person, make sure both of you are signed up on MyChart (applies to adults and children age 12 and older) and that you have proxy access on their account. An email invitation for friends or family to have MyChart access can be generated through the Sharing Hub option in the Menu.
