Bayhealth Welcomed Delaware State University Nursing Students for Bay Day Experience
Bayhealth hosted nursing students from Delaware State University (DSU) for an engaging and educational Bay Day experience at Bayhealth Kent Campus in early October. The half-day program provided senior-level nursing students a valuable opportunity to learn from Bayhealth’s expert nursing professionals and explore diverse clinical settings.
Bay Day was designed to connect the next generation of nurses with the real-world experiences of acute care practice. Students engaged with team members representing the Emergency Department, Perioperative Services, Medical-Surgical units, Critical Care and specialty areas. Through interactive discussions and guided tours, the event inspired students while showcasing Bayhealth’s commitment to education, professional development and workforce growth.
“Our nursing teams were eager to share what makes Bayhealth a great place to learn and grow,” said Alana King, Workforce Development Specialist, MSN RN. “By partnering with DSU, we helped bridge the classroom-to-career connection and supported the success of tomorrow’s clinicians.”
The event included a panel discussion featuring nurses from Kent and Sussex campuses, hands-on simulation lab demonstrations and guided hospital tours. Departments across Bayhealth hosted informational tables highlighting clinical practice, teamwork and opportunities for professional advancement.
The Bay Day event at Bayhealth Kent Campus featured a full morning of learning and engagement for Delaware State University nursing students. The day began with networking followed by a welcome from Bayhealth Nursing Leadership and Workforce Development. Students then participated in a nursing panel discussion highlighting various specialties including Med-Surg, PCU, ICU and more. The program continued with simulation lab demonstrations and guided hospital tours, concluding with a wrap-up and group discussion reflecting on the day’s experiences.
Twenty-nine senior-level DSU nursing students participated in this year’s event at Bayhealth’s Kent Campus in Dover.
Bayhealth’s ongoing collaboration with DSU continues to reflect its dedication to nurturing future healthcare professionals and fostering excellence in patient care through education, mentorship and hands-on learning.
