Bayhealth is proud to announce that Trauma Program Coordinator Sharon Rigney, MSN, RN, CEN, of Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus (Level III), has been awarded the prestigious TEAMS Scholarship for Trauma Leadership 2025. Rigney was one of only eight recipients chosen from more than 100 applicants nationwide.

Rigney’s journey with Bayhealth began as an emergency department clinical rotation that sparked her passion for emergency care. After serving 12 years as an emergency department nurse, she advanced to her current role as Trauma Program coordinator. In this position, Rigney has prioritized education, mentorship and continuous learning, while also fostering collaboration and enhancing trauma program performance through evidence-based practice.

Trauma Program Manager at Bayhealth Deborah Eberly, RN, BSN, CEN, CNML, said Rigney’s recognition reflects her dedication and leadership in advancing trauma care: “Sharon is deeply committed to building collaboration, mentoring others, and driving evidence-based practices that strengthen our trauma program. This scholarship is a testament to her vision and the positive impact she has on our patients, team members and community.”

The TEAMS Scholarship ensures talented trauma leaders have access to the knowledge, skills and professional networks they need to excel. Selected scholars receive full tuition for leadership-focused trauma courses, along with opportunities to build connections, exchange ideas and apply new strategies that strengthen trauma systems in their communities.
