Bayhealth-sponsored Free Bikes 4 Kidz Delaware Supplies1,000 Bikes to Local Youth
Through the continued partnership of founding and premier sponsor Bayhealth, Free Bikes 4 Kidz (FB4K) Delaware has pedaled its way to a new milestone. They have given away 1,000 bikes to local kids since launching in 2023.
The Bayhealth and FB4K partnership began in 2023, leading to the establishment of the FB4K Delaware chapter of the national nonprofit organization. Their mission is geared toward sustainably furnishing bikes, along with new helmets, to kids in our communities, providing a pathway to health, happiness and opportunity. Relying on volunteer support, FB4K Delaware collects donated bikes, refurbishes them and cleans them up throughout the year. The chapter partners with local non-profits and other charitable organizations to identify local youth most in need and match them up with a bike and helmet.
“We’ve been thrilled with the enthusiasm from our community partners and volunteers that has allowed us to bring the joy of owning a bike to under-resourced kids and teens locally and be resourceful in recycling used bikes and parts to keep them out of landfills,” said Bayhealth Chief Wellness Officer and FB4K Delaware founder Dr. Tom Vaughan. “Having a bike encourages an active lifestyle away from screens that can open a child’s world and keep them healthier in countless ways. We’re grateful for all the support that’s helped us reach 1,000 bike giveaways to deserving youth in our area. This exciting milestone fuels our passion for continuing this important work to make a positive impact in the lives of many more.”
