Bayhealth Celebrates Opening of First Dedicated Location in Dover

Friday, March 27, 2026 | Expanded Services, Heart & Vascular

The Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute’s first dedicated location welcomed the first patient on March 24, and Bayhealth celebrated this important milestone in its ongoing commitment to cardiovascular care with a ceremonial ribbon cutting held the same day.

Located at 560 S. Governors Ave. in Dover, the new location is part of The Next Wave project, Bayhealth’s multi-year major facilities initiative designed to strengthen how care is delivered across its hospitals and outpatient facilities. The space brings multiple heart and vascular services together under one roof, improving access, enhancing collaboration among care teams and supporting more coordinated care for the community.

“This facility was designed with our patients and community in mind,” said Senior Director for the Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute Ben Collins, MBA, BSN. “By bringing our heart and vascular services together in one centralized location, we are improving access to care, strengthening collaboration among our teams and ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time.”

The newly renovated facility features 28 exam rooms and houses Bayhealth Cardiology, Dover and Bayhealth Cardiovascular Diagnostics, Dover. The location brings together the same experienced clinicians and support staff who previously served patients at the Governors Avenue and Eden Hill locations, ensuring continuity of care while enhancing convenience.

Patients will continue to have access to specialized services at this location, including the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic, coumadin clinic and device support for pacemakers.

The opening comes one year after Bayhealth announced the Heart & Vascular Institute and reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to delivering expert, comprehensive cardiovascular care close to home. As part of The Next Wave project, Bayhealth also plans to develop a similar dedicated Heart & Vascular Institute location on the Sussex Campus in the coming years, along with dedicated cardiovascular interventional labs at Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus, and continued growth of heart and vascular care teams to meet the needs of the region’s growing communities.
