Sponsorship Requests

Those requests that fit within the mission, vision, values and community benefit objectives of Bayhealth and those that measurably improve community health and wellness will be given the highest priority for consideration for potential support.

Funds are limited and we regret that we cannot approve all requests. To be considered, a request for sponsorship or funding must meet all of the following criteria:

• The event or project must directly benefit the geographic area served by Bayhealth.
• The event or project must relate to one or more of the following community health priorities:
  • Access to Health
  • Mental Health/Substance Use
  • Social Determinants of Health Needs identified through Bayhealth-led Community Health Needs Assessments (i.e., economic stability, education access and quality, health care access and quality, neighborhood and built environment and social and community context)
  • Physical Activity/Nutrition and Weight
  • Maternal and Child Health
  • Chronic Disease/Screenings
• The event or project must be consistent with Bayhealth’s mission, vision, and values.
• The requesting organization must demonstrate collaboration and coordination with other community organizations or Bayhealth and not merely duplicate the efforts of other groups.
• The requesting organization must have current 501(c)3 not-for-profit, tax exempt status under IRS code Section 170, or be a governmental agency or department, or a public educational institution.
• The requesting organization must demonstrate effective program performance and sustainability in addition to financial responsibility and accountability.

Although there are many organizations serving our community that are worthy of support, the budget is limited. Requests will be considered based on the potential to improve community health and wellness.

As a result, we will give preference to those requests that meet the following criteria:

• Promote personal and community health. This would include events that provide education about, and opportunities for, fitness, nutrition, disease prevention and management.
• Strive to raise awareness of, and support research aimed at reducing or eliminating, debilitating diseases and other health problems.

It is our policy not to approve funding for the following:

• Political activities of any kind
• Requests from or requests that benefit single individuals
• Requests and/or events that do not improve the health of the greater community that we serve
• Individual scholarships
• Individual schools or classrooms
• Individual sports team related activities (exceptions may be considered if there is a healthcare component to the organization)
• An organization which purpose, philosophy or mission is not aligned with or is in direct competition to Bayhealth. Furthermore, an organization whose brand or reputation could create risk for the Bayhealth brand.

The Bayhealth Foundation occasionally receives requests for sponsorships from Bayhealth donors and donor organizations. These requests are reviewed by the president of the Bayhealth Foundation and referred to Bayhealth Marketing, Communications & Community Outreach with notation as to the desirability and/or appropriateness of granting support to the requesting donor or donor organization.
