Anirudha Goparaju, MD

Anirudha Goparaju, MD, FACS, is a general surgeon who specializes in various types of abdominal surgery including weight loss surgery, also known as bariatric surgery, and hernia surgery. He performs his operations using advanced minimal access techniques including robotics and laparoscopic surgery.

Starting when he first observed a surgery while a college student, Dr. Goparaju became fascinated with the medical and surgical field. He finds that in surgery, he is able to find a way to tangibly improve a patient’s quality of life. He believes that using the surgical techniques to apply creative solutions to complex problems is a true joy and a privilege.

Dr. Goparaju’s passion is applying minimal access techniques such as advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery to improve patients’ lives. Dr. Goparaju performs operations that address simple to complex conditions – from minor hernias to large hernias leading to dysfunctions of the abdominal wall, requiring abdominal wall reconstruction. He is patient-centered in his approach, always putting his patients’ needs above all else and working with them to determine their safest and best treatment option.

Dr. Goparaju is proud to offer surgical weight loss solutions—including gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, duodenal switch, and complex revisional bariatric surgery—that can be life changing for patients who suffer from obesity. He finds it deeply rewarding to work with patients through the bariatric surgery journey, resulting in dramatically improved functionality without pain and the ability to lead a longer and more active life. Often the positive impact of these bariatric surgeries includes a resolution of or drastic improvement in chronic conditions, such as high blood pressure and diabetes.

When he’s not working, Dr. Goparaju enjoys spending time with his wife, young son and his three dogs. He enjoys working with home technology and in his spare time likes to hike, play video games and lift weights.
