Carl Barosso, MD, specializes in vascular surgery.

Driven to make a difference in people’s lives, Dr. Barosso knew he wanted to become a doctor. In his medical schooling he found his niche when completing a rotation in cardiac and vascular surgery. He went on to pursue residencies in general surgery, vascular surgery, and cardiovascular and thoracic surgery to further hone his expertise.

Dr. Barosso has more than 25 years’ experience in his surgical specialty. Having worked in private practices and health systems across the country, he has always dedicated himself to the needs of each patient he serves.

As a surgeon, Dr. Barosso tends to see patients at a specific point in their health journey—when their condition has worsened, or a problem is identified. But he doesn’t underestimate the importance of taking time to listen to patients and to make sure that they, and their family members, have a strong understanding of their disease. He carefully explains surgery options and what’s involved in a procedure before, during and after. This allows informed decisions to be made about treatment plans, and for patients and family members to see how they play an important part in reaching an optimal health outcome.

Dr. Barosso is enthusiastic about helping to strengthen heart and vascular health in our region and meet the growing needs for southern Delaware residents in particular. This includes performing procedures such as stenting, balloon angioplasty and endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) at Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus.
