Jazab A. Sheikh, MD

Jazab Sheikh, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician who sees adult patients, ages 18 and older.

Dr. Sheikh was raised in northern Delaware. He always looked up to his uncles, who were very knowledgeable and well-respected primary care physicians in his community. That gave him early inspiration to become a family doctor, so he too could help people with a wide range of medical problems.

After completing his residency, during which he was honored with multiple Resident of the Year and Teacher of the Year Awards, he worked as a family medicine physician in several states. At the same time, he honed his leadership skills with roles such as medical director of multispecialty clinics and director of transition of care and quality improvement for two different health systems. Dr. Sheikh is excited to be back in the first state, providing needed services for his growing community.

Dr. Sheikh’s philosophy is simply to treat each patient like his own family member. He takes pride in his ability to listen carefully to patients so he can better understand their lifestyle and perspectives. He strives to meet each person where they are on their healthcare journey, providing treatment and ongoing care to improve their health and boost their long-term wellbeing.

Dr. Sheikh emphasizes the important role that primary care plays in helping people live long, healthy lives. He encourages every individual to establish care with a primary care doctor from an early age and continue with regular visits. Through preventative medicine, routine checkups, and screenings he can identify problems before they develop into more serious issues, to help patients avoid chronic conditions or a future heart attack or stroke.

When he’s not working, Dr. Sheikh likes to spend time with family, including his wife—a fellow Bayhealth physician—and their two little girls. He is also a huge sports fan.
