Jonathan Simon, MD, is board certified in the specialty of internal medicine.After a successful business career that took him to various countries in Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union and Outer Mongolia, Dr. Simon pursued an initial interest in medicine which had grown over the years as he witnessed broken systems for delivering healthcare to people that needed it.
During his medical schooling, Dr. Simon volunteered his time working with a local doctor’s practice. He graduated summa cum laude, near the top of his medical school class.
He was drawn to an internal medicine specialty because of the opportunity to care for many patients with a variety of unique healthcare needs. He views primary care as the spoke of the wheel, and believes patients have long-term benefits from good care at that level.
Of utmost importance to Dr. Simon is developing a sense of trust among his patients. He wants patients to feel comfortable opening up about their medical problems and leave appointments feeling truly understood. He finds no greater reward than seeing real improvements in his patients’ health over time—not just the numbers, but changes in attitude and buying in to the idea that they can strongly impact their own health by their behaviors and choices.
Dr. Simon and his wife have enjoyed getting settled in Delaware and the welcoming community atmosphere. In his spare time, Dr. Simon enjoys photography, gardening, target archery and DIY projects. He also speaks Spanish and Russian.
