About
From an early age, Dr. Araujo knew he wanted to be a surgeon. This aspiration was born out of a desire to help people with physical injuries and ailments. Through his own personal life experiences, he realized the healing power of the human hand. Choosing a career in surgery, and ultimately vascular surgery, was therefore an easy choice for him.
An individualized approach to patient care is very important to Dr. Araujo. He strives to build personal relationships with each and every patient encounter, stating, “A doctor-patient relationship based on trust and understanding is the key to successful outcomes.”
By emphasizing patient education and understanding of their medical condition, he empowers patients to make informed health decisions. Using open and endovascular approaches to vascular disease, he is able to offer patients treatments tailored to their specific needs. “It is both an honor and privilege to be entrusted to care for people,” says Dr. Araujo. “The most fulfilling part of my job is seeing my patients recover from their illness, and back to enjoying a full life with their loved ones.”
Dr. Araujo has extensive training in both open and minimally invasive (endovascular) procedures. He treats the full spectrum of vascular conditions, including those of the aorta (the body’s largest artery), carotid artery disease for stroke prevention, mesenteric and renovascular disease. He also performs limb salvage procedures (angioplasty, stenting and bypass surgery) for peripheral arterial disease, and procedures for deep venous thrombosis (DVT), varicose veins, venous insufficiency, and the creation of vascular access for hemodialysis. He has a special interest in the treatment of complex aortic aneurysms (a bulge or weakening of the artery’s wall) and dissections (tear of the inner layer of the artery), as well as minimally invasive treatment of carotid stenosis.
When he’s not working, Dr. Araujo loves spending time with his family—his wife and four children—and friends. He enjoys cooking, grilling and working out to stay active and fit.
