Madhulika Urella, MD

Madhulika Urella, MD, is a hematologist and medical oncologist who treats and manages a range of blood diseases and types of cancer.

From a young age, Dr. Urella had a knack for math and science and a strong interest in understanding how the body worked. Her father encouraged her to consider a career in medicine. Through family experiences of visiting loved ones in the hospital, she was inspired by watching medical professionals compassionately provide care and ease suffering. She knew she wanted to be a doctor who could do the same for others.

Dr. Urella was drawn to hematology oncology during her internal medicine residency rotation, and she completed fellowship training and research in this specialty field. Hematology refers to the diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases of the blood and its components. Medical oncology focuses on the treatment after a cancer diagnosis and destroying cancer cells using targeted approaches such as chemotherapy.

Passionate about providing safe and personalized care to every patient she serves, Dr. Urella offers expertise to treat many different types of cancer at all stages. She believes in always being respectful of a patient’s wishes and strives to be a partner with them and their loved ones in making decisions about care plans that are best for them. She considers it a privilege to make a difference in someone’s life by reducing their suffering or aiding them in their courageous fight against cancer.

When she’s not working, Dr. Urella enjoys family time and watching TV with her husband and two children. She also loves to read.
