Svetlana Polishchuk, MD, is an internal medicine physician who offers primary care to adult patients ages 18 and older. Also called internists, internal medicine physicians specialize in the care of adults and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the spectrum of illnesses that affect them.
Having grown up in a small coastal town in Russia, Dr. Polishchuk knew she eventually wanted to settle in a small community with a similar neighborly feel. She completed her medical training at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in Bronx, New York, then made Delaware her home after finding a strong sense of belonging here.
What Dr. Polishchuk enjoys most about being a physician is communicating with people, learning their stories and being able to help them. Building long-term relationships with her patients based on trust and mutual respect is very important to her. She strives to understand what makes each person unique and how she can best help them live their healthiest life.
Dr. Polishchuk empowers her patients’ by guiding them and providing the information, motivation and support they need to adopt healthy habits, meet their wellness goals, and improve their overall quality of life.
She has become very interested in mindfulness and its stress-reducing benefits. She practices this regularly to find balance in her life. Her other hobbies include hiking and reading.
