Bayhealth Cardiovascular & Electrophysiology Labs, Kent Campus
Overview
Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus has three cardiovascular and electrophysiology labs where procedures are done to diagnose and treat certain cardiovascular disorders.
Cardiac catheterizations and electrophysiology studies are performed in the labs. These are done by doctors who are experts in heart care—either interventional cardiologists or electrophysiologists.
Interventional cardiologists use small tubes called catheters that inject dye that can be seen under X-ray to look at and treat the heart.
Electrophysiologists focus on the heart’s electrical system. They run tests and give treatment if the heart beats in an irregular way, like with arrhythmias or other rhythm issues.
