Your journey of healing with Bayhealth’s ENT and allergy specialists will begin with a referral from your primary care physician or other specialist.
It’s important for us to understand your health history and other circumstances that may be impacting your condition or getting in the way of your healing. That’s why we do an overall health assessment in addition to a thorough examination of your ear, nose, throat and neck.
Preparing for ENT and Allergy Appointment
What to Bring
- Medical history: Include any past conditions, surgeries, or treatments related to your ears, nose, throat or allergies.
- Medications: List all current medications, including dosages and frequency—even over-the-counter and supplements.
- Insurance card and referral paperwork
- Relevant medical records
Document Your Symptoms
- Symptom details: Track what you're experiencing — location, severity, frequency and duration.
- Triggers: Identify anything that seems to worsen your symptoms.
- Be specific: Describe symptoms clearly (e.g., “sharp pain behind left ear” instead of just “ear pain”) or if you’ve noticed patterns or triggers (like dust, pollen, foods or weather changes).
Prepare Questions for the Doctor
Write down what you want to ask. Consider:
- What might be causing my symptoms?
- What are my treatment options?
- What lifestyle changes can help?
- What are the side effects of treatment?
- What if the first treatment doesn’t work?
Tip: Arrive early to complete any paperwork and reduce stress.
