Vice President, Finance
Mary Finn, MBA, CPA, is vice president, Finance. At Bayhealth since 2019, Finn leads treasury functions, general accounting, and financial reporting, decision support, budgeting, tax compliance and accounts payable. She brings to her role more than 30 years of progressively responsible experience leading successful healthcare finance teams. Her expertise spans many aspects of the healthcare field including acute care services, subacute care, physician networks, ambulatory care, home care, and hospice.
Before joining Bayhealth, Finn served in finance leadership roles at Saint Francis Hospital (a member of Trinity Health) in Wilmington, DE, and Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice in Marlton, NJ, as well as Aria Health in Pennsylvania and Kennedy Health System in New Jersey, both now part of the Jefferson Health System.
In addition to her many responsibilities, Finn helps to guide B.I.G. (Bayhealth Innovation Group). The initiative is Bayhealth’s pledge to fortifying a bright future for its patients, team members, and community through the creation and implementation of innovative ideas that enhance service, safety, stewardship, and sustainability.
Among Finn’s accomplishments to date, she has led her team in implementing several new software applications to optimize key finance operations. Capital budgeting, decision support, lease accounting, tax preparation and filing, accounts payable automation and a new enterprise resource planning system has streamlined operations across the organization.
“I’m very goal oriented and achieving goals gives me a sense of accomplishment,” said Finn after accepting her position at Bayhealth. When asked what drives her, she stated: “My motto is to always leave things better than I find them, so continuing to build on the great work that’s already being done at Bayhealth is key to me.”
A certified public accountant, she is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs, and the Metropolitan Philadelphia Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. She was a contributing author to the Subacute Care: The Definitive Guide to Hospital-Based Nursing Facilities published by Aspen and has previously testified before the US Congress as an expert witness on Medicare physician payment reform.
Active in volunteering, Finn gives of her time as a peer reviewer for the Healthcare Financial Management Association and has reviewed more than a hundred 100 articles. The association has recognized her for her service with Bronze, Silver, and Gold Merit Awards. She also volunteers with the Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Susan G. Komen organization, and other local charities. In addition, she was previously a board member of Saint Francis Life Program (a Trinity Health Pace Program in Wilmington).
Finn earned both her Bachelor of Science in accounting and her MBA in healthcare administration from La Salle University in Philadelphia.
When not immersed in her work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends at the beach, traveling, practicing yoga, spin class, reading, and going to concerts. An avid Philadelphia sports fan, she enjoys sporting events and rooting for her favorite teams.
